Calcasieu Parish residents may be eligible for financial assistance for their electricity bill expenses through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP).
LiHEAP assists residents with electricity and gas utility expenses based on their total income. Priority is given to residents over 60 years of age, households with children under 5 years of age, and residents with disabilities. On average, LiHEAP helps 6,000 people annually in Calcasieu Parish.
“LiHEAP is here to help eligible residents during difficult times. For many families, this support makes a real difference in managing energy bills and maintaining a safe, comfortable home,” said Raven Williams of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Human Services Department.
Applications will be accepted in person from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, or by appointment, at 2001 Moeling St. in Lake Charles. Residents may also apply online at calcasieu.gov/liheap. Residents who are facing crisis or disconnects are asked to apply in person.
