Get ready to make your spirits bright at the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s “Christmas at the Courthouse” celebration, a free event that will take place from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Historic Calcasieu Courthouse, 1000 Ryan St., Lake Charles.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with a crew of other holiday characters, will be on site to spread Christmas cheer and to pose for photos with residents of all ages.
Starting at 3:30 p.m., guests can view a lineup of Christmas classics, including “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” and “Shrek the Halls.”
Once the courthouse lights are turned on at 5:15 p.m., stick around for a full showing of the Christmas favorite, “Elf.”
“There’s no better way to kick off the season than with Christmas at the Courthouse,” said Police Jury President Judd Bares. “From movies and music to Santa and sweet treats, it’s a great way to bring the community together and get into the holiday spirit."
There will be free popcorn, cotton candy, candy canes, soft drinks and hot chocolate served at the event.
The event will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. The cancellation will be announced in the media, as well as on the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s website at calcasieu.gov and on CPPJ’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
