Qualified Non-Profits Encouraged to Submit Request for Proposals for Community Services Block Grant Funding

Post Date:07/31/2025 9:00 AM

The Calcasieu Parish Human Services Department encourages local community, civic, faith-based, and non-profit organizations to submit Request for Proposals (RFPs) for Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding.

📥 Who can apply? Civic, Faith-based, & Non-profit Organizations
🧑‍🏫 What can it be used for? Services geared towards education, employment, income management, and self-sufficiency for low-income households.

Funding through the CSBG is flexible and may be used for a variety of eligible activities under the Community Opportunities, Accountability and Training and Education Services Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-285). To be eligible, organizations must provide services geared towards education, employment and income management, that promote self-sufficiency for low-income families and individuals.

Each grant award ranges from 5,000 to $20,000.

“The Human Services Department is excited to provide local community, civic, faith‑based, and non‑profit organizations an opportunity to partner with our CSBG funding and enhance direct service delivery across our community,” said Courtney Jacob, Grants Coordinator. “We remain steadfast in eliminating barriers that may prevent families and individuals from accessing and fully leveraging resources. Through CSBG partnerships, local organizations can deepen their reach, advance equity, and deliver measurable assistance -- whether that’s boosting workforce readiness, supporting basic safety‑net needs, or expanding educational and financial capability. Ultimately, this collaborative approach strengthens resilience and improves quality of life across our community.”

The deadline to submit an RFP is 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21.
